This event is in the past.
On Wednesday, July 1st 2020 there will be a ride to escort the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall.
We will organize at American Legion Post 639, 2660 S Scenic, Springfield on July 1 for the escort. The mission/safety briefing will be at 07:45 with KSU at 0800. AL Post 639 will be open for breakfast 06:30 to 07:30. We will travel east on Highway 60 with a gas/rest stop at Loves Truck Stop, the third Willow Springs exit. There is a convenience store and McDonalds at this stop. We will proceed from there to Thayer, MO where we will meet the Wall and other MROs. At Thayer please leave the area between the Beverage Shoppe and the Gas Plus for staging the lead group and the Traveling Wall. There are Gas Plus and Valero stations across the street from each other at our Thayer stop.
At Thayer we will have a mission/safety brief at 11:45 with KSU at 12:00 for the return trip to AL Post 639. We will travel north on Highway 63, then west on Highway 60. We will have a gas/rest stop again at Loves Truck stop at Willow Springs. The procession will be led by SGT Shannon Crouch, Motorcycle Unit Supervisor, Troop D, Missouri State Highway Patrol.
We will have some LEO support on the return trip. However, in the absence of LEO instructions OBEY ALL traffic control devices. We want this ride to be safe and seen as a positive event by the public. DO NOT block instructions and ride safe.
